Project Officer – Our Digital Zone Shetland
Employer: Citizens Online
Salary: £20,000pa pro-rata
Base: Shetland
Duration: Part time Post (18 hours per week)
Project funded until June 2015
Citizens Online is a national charity that promotes access to information and communication technology (ICT) particularly for people digitally excluded for social or economic reasons. Our Digital Zone is a multi agency partnership which offers a wide range of advice to any level of technology user. There is help for those taking the first steps in getting online, for businesses who want to develop their web presence or social media activity, or who want to discover more about the latest digital technology.
Our Digital Zone Shetland is a partnership between Citizens Online and Highlands and Islands Enterprise.
This role is for a dynamic individual who will respond to this exciting challenge to coordinate and deliver digital inclusion and activities in Shetland. The project will focus on increasing both access and uptake, by raising awareness of how ICT/internet can be used to deliver social and economic benefit to connected communities across Shetland.
The Coordinator’s role is to use strategic, tactical and operational approaches to promote the benefits of ICT/internet usage. This will involve working with partners at all levels from such as community groups and education providers, to deliver a bespoke combination of activities relevant to local need.
You don’t have to be a technical expert. More important to us is your understanding of information and communication technology in its wider context, and its relevance to social inclusion. Ideally you will have experience of delivering informal ICT sessions.
You will already have some experience in community based work and be a confident user of computers and the Internet.
