Theatre lovers are being invited to a public meeting organised by Shetland Arts to have their say on the future of the genre in Shetland.
The discussion will take place at The Garrison Theatre on Thursday 15th January and Shetland Arts’ general manager Graeme Howell said he was particularly keen to hear of ways the Garrison could be best used.
He said: “We are looking to enter into a discussion with interested parties about how best to encourage and support the development of theatre in Shetland. In particular, we want to discuss how the Garrison Theatre can be best used as a centre and springboard for that development.”
He added: “We’re keen to hear thoughts and suggestions from all corners and would encourage anyone interested in the topic to come along and let their voice be heard.”
The Garrison, was built in 1903/04. There has been criticism, from some quarters, that since Mareel opened the Garrison has been under used.
Next week’s discussion starts at 6pm. More on this story in Friday’s Shetland Times.
