GENERAL SITUATION AND SYNOPSIS 06:00 UTC
With pressure low to the north a light and showery NW’ly airflow covers the north of Scotland. This will become a drier W’ly on Tuesday as a weak ridge moves in from the west. As this declines a depression near Iceland will push a weakening front eastwards.
Later on Wednesday the same depression will drive a more active front towards Scotland, this becoming slow-moving in a light S’ly airflow near the Northern Isles during Thursday. A fresher SW’ly is expected for Friday as the front clears east.
During next weekend an Atlantic depression is forecast to bring a strengthening S to SW’ly airflow as further fronts move northeast across northern Scotland.
A fresher NW’ly airflow may follow early the following week as the depression is currently predicted to track east close to northern Scotland as a filling feature.
